Laurie Sermos

Laurie Sermos holds a BFA, with honors, in photography from Pratt Institute (1999), and a MFA from the Milton Avery Graduate School for the Arts at Bard College (2006). She has taught photography for The University of Georgia’s study abroad program in Tuscany (2006), and continues a studio and professional photography practice.

Kerri Tabarcea

Kerri Tabarcea was born in San Diego, California and lived in Southern California and Bucks County, Pennsylvania. She attended Pratt Institute and graduated in 2007 with a BFA/MS in Art and Design Education. She currently lives in Brooklyn and teaches art in middle school. In her studio classroom, Kerri focuses on the way students interact with design and how they can be part of the design world. Her own art work (painting and drawing) is also strongly linked to her interest in design.

Polina Porras

Polina Porras is a teacher and visual artist. She received her MFA in New Forms and a minor in Art and Design Education from Pratt in May 2008. She has held a variety of teaching positions ranging from The Harlem School of the Arts, the Queens Museum, and El Museo del Barrio. She has exhibited in many galleries in New York City, as well as in Connecticut, Texas, and Florida.

Jodi Messina- Nozawa

Jodi Messina- Nozawa graduated from Pratt Institute in May 2005 with a BFA in Communications Design and a minor in Art and Design Education. She has continued her studies with Studio 1482/David Passalacqua School of Drawing & Illustration taking reportage classes. She has been teaching art at an after school program for children, teens and adults with developmental disabilites at the 92nd Street Y since 1999 as well as teaching pre-school at a Head Start Center in Harlem.

Tali Nagler

Tali Nagler graduated from the University of Colorado with a BFA in Sculpture. She then attended Pratt Institute where she earned her MFA in Sculpture, with a minor in Art and Design Education. She has been creating her artwork for over six years and has taught art in high school, middle school, and elementary school for almost two years. Tali now teaches art and design at the Art and Music Academy at the Bayard Rustin Educational complex in Manhattan.

Dawn Mostow

Dawn Alana Mostow, holds a Masters of Fine Arts from Pratt Institute and a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Computer Animation from Ringling College of Art and Design, as well as an Advanced Certificate in Art and Design Education from Pratt. She combines her background in costume design and computer graphics with her knowledge of Japanese culture to explore new ways of storytelling and the development of personal of imagery. In Fall 2008, Dawn began teaching art at the School for Democracy and Leadership in Brooklyn.

Lara Knutson

Lara Knutson is a LEED Accredited Architect who graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Architecture from Pratt in 1998. After working in the field for six years, she opened her own practice. Lara is also designing jewelry, which is now sold in New York. She began the Master’s in Industrial Design program at Pratt in the Fall of 2008.

Visnja Popovic

Visnja Popovic graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design with a BFA in Textiles in 2001. Since then she has worked in a New York design studio specializing in luxury home fabrics and has earned her Masters of Science degree in Art and Design Education from Pratt Institute. She has taught students from pre-school age to adults in the United States and abroad. Currently Visnja teaches weaving to adults and children and makes fiber and fine art.

Elise Pelletier, Director 2007-2008

Elise Pelletier graduated from the University of Denver in 2003 with a BFA in Graphic Design. Following her undergraduate studies, she worked as a freelance designer and pursued printmaking in her spare time. She later moved to Austin, Texas to work for the Serie Project, a well-known screen printing organization. She then started her own design and screen printing business called Foreshadow Press.

Elise completed her Master of Science degree in Art and Design Education at Pratt Institute and recently began teaching 9th Grade Art at Brooklyn Community Arts & Media High School.
